Epoxy or polished concrete: which floor makes sense?

Epoxy and polished concrete can both look sharp, but they solve different problems. The right answer depends on the condition of your slab, the way the room is used, and whether you want to cover the concrete or show it.

Choose epoxy when the floor needs a coating

Epoxy is usually the better conversation for garages, work areas, storage rooms, and spaces where the concrete needs a finished layer over it. It can cover a rough-looking slab better than polishing can, especially when paired with flakes or a solid color system.

Choose polished concrete when you like the slab

Polished concrete keeps the concrete as the main surface. That can look great in a showroom, office, studio, or modern home, but it depends heavily on what is already there. Patches, stains, old glue, and cracks may still show in some way.

Ask this before deciding

Do you want the floor covered, or do you want the concrete refined? That one question usually clears up a lot. After that, photos and a site look help decide what prep, finish, and budget range make sense.
